Andrew Ward - Polaroid portrait

I'd been wanting to shoot a portrait my friend Andrew in the theatrical lighting style of Yousuf Karsh for quite a while, and since he's moving away to Colorado I figured now was the time.  Writer, raconteur, scholar, leader of the Sufi Second Line (http://www.wahida.org/), and an occasional French Quarter tour guide, Andrew has a big personality and a mischievous spirit, but also a very serious side that he rarely lets anyone see.   My goal for this portrait was to capture that aspect of his personality.

Shot on Fuji 3000b black and white instant film with a 4x5 view camera.
